Международный день культуры

15 апреля в России и многих других странах отмечается Международный день культуры. Дата этого праздника связана с принятием Пакта Рериха — первого международного акта об охране культурных ценностей, который стал основой многих действующих договоренностей о сохранении культурного наследия. В этот день в разных городах проходят лекции, выставки и концерты, а также церемония поднятия Знамени Мира — символа, также придуманного Николаем Рерихом.

Идея свода правил, которые регулировали бы охрану памятников истории и культуры от разрушительного влияния внешних сил, возникла у художника и философа Николая Рериха еще в первой половине ХХ века. В 1929 году он обратился к правительствам и народам разных стран с проработанным проектом международного договора, который утверждал преимущество сохранения культурного наследия перед военной необходимостью.

После этого Николай Рерих продолжил работу над Пактом, и в 1931 году, во время I Международной конференции Пакта Рериха в Брюгге (Бельгия), предложил ввести Всемирный день культуры.
